I had sent a message to TNET asking that this forum be mover higher but they just ignored me. I think it would be more active if we did not have to scroll down so far.

US Navy-served on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier from 1964 to Dec. 1967. Aircraft fueler on the flightdeck during last tour.
My granddaughter is now in the Navy Seabees serving a 3-year stent in Sicily. Due to the training she received she is doing a 6-year tour but is talking about making it a career. She is working in a desalination plant making fresh water out of sea water.
Got a grandson in the Naval Reserve that just graduated from Electronic Tech School.

Staff Sergeant (Army) here.

1st Cavalry Division out of Ft. Hood, TX.

Actually just ETS'd 13 November 2013.

I was a 15Y3F... The civilian types may know that better as a "Helicopter Crew Chief".

Specialized on all systems for AH-64 "Apache" Rotorcraft.

The "3F" ASQ (skill identifier) is for Quality Control (Technical Inspector)

Also spent my entire 10 year career Multi-MDS rated... Door gunning on UH-60A/L and CH-47F.

Several 12 and 15 month deployments to both Iraq & Afghanistan...

Now I'm back home, wearing boots and jeans.
Ain't touched a razor in 4 months.
And life couldn't be better!

I think I put my data above. Two years, 1964-66. mostly Ft. Lewis, Crash Rescue. Unlike many of you, I did not like the military even one little bit. Part of it was morale was not high in the 60s and the rest was I just was not suited for military life. Henry David Thoreau was more my idol than General Patton. I did get my Honorable, and have a lot of interesting memories, but not especially great ones. Glad so many of you have good memories, though. If you are doing something, better to enjoy it.
