? ROMAN LEAD CURSE TABLET.

Please can anyone advise on this new find .It was found about 12 inches in pasture field underneath some large stones.It is lead and has been folded over.I opened it slightly when found. It has a drawing inside and out which appears to be a snake and there are lines drawn. The design has been made by individually pecking at the lead .I believe it could be a Roman lead curse tablet and if so would be a rare find.I haven't showed it yet to finds liason officer. Hi Matt,
It looks like a roman lead curse but do you have exact dimensions (in cm + weight) of the object and do you have drawing showing the picture engraved on the lead ? That's important. Did you find other objects with the lead (fragments of ceramic, coinage...) ? Location, context (images of the large stones : how they look like) could also help (ancient settlement in the neighborhood...?). I beleive it's interesting and I'm keen to know more about it. Do you plan to publish it ? Please in that case tell me where

never heard of them before, so upon seeing your post I did some looking on the net about them. looks very possible that is what you have. that's pretty cool

It's very interesting but as far as I'm away it has to have writing on it to be a curse tablet.
