I'm not surprised my silver streak has finished, it was a big ask in the area I gridded today. Another 4 hours solo hunt produced a couple of OK Roman Coins plus a Iron age (Celtic) Fibula.

That fibula doesn't have enough rust on it to iron age does it?

Very big (One of my biggest), dug it over a spade depth.

At the moment I'm only picking up 1 in 5 that I see. Eventually the archies will do a proper gridded field walk.

Yes, this is the 90metre x 90metre T Shaped Building. Mansio is best guess. The clues point towards an over night stop for Military/Officials, with Bar, & maybe bath house.

Its even more fun being part of a well oiled team that finds it in the first place.
We have Land-Mag to thank for his professional research of a 1970s amateur Archie who published a nearby dig but funnily enough stated that he thought that no building was nearby. Funny because he found lesser Sites & this one was his best discovery, without even knowing it. That is the power of the Metal Detector. :occasion14:
