Re: Roman Silver Denar Coin Hoard !!! - UPDATE: now 9 coins. NEW PHOTO.

Hello "TheDane",
Right now here in Northen California U.S.A. it is 9:00 AM on 08March2012 and I have just completed reading this entire post and it is wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing!

In the last few years all of my detecting has been associated with prospecting for gold and I've found some and I've been pleased with the 'adventure' I was on though I'd guess it was not near the adventure you are on right now and I bet you are enjoying it!
There is nothing like getting out in the fresh air to exercise with a detector in hand and the earphones on and humming with the threshold tone. Enjoy and the best of luck with finding more and possibly having a good sized pot of silver coins that the professionals will finally unearth..............63bkpkr

Gratulerer med et fantastisk funn! :hello2:

I went for a banner vote again, I mean, if a tacky mansring from the beach gets a banner, then these pieces of history should be a shoe in!

Very nice finds....whas there much Roman activity in Denmark's territory? Or were these brought home by the Vikings?

Beste Hilsen fra New York, Erik

Yup your right that a tacky manstring from the beach gets a banner.

Hi Erik

The coins are about 700 years before the Vikings.
There was no roman activity in Denmark at that time (or any other time). The coins are probably brought to Denmark thru trade or as salery for a northern man who had voluntered for roman army service.
These coins had no "coin value" in our area, but were precious because of their fine silver content, and were melted and used for making brooches and other juwelry.

Excellent find--certainly banner worthy in my book! My vote's in!

WHAT, you find 22 ancient coins in one area, with some gold sprinkled in for good measure and this hasn't made Banner yet.:icon_scratch: I think that Bill (D) had a similar thing happen when he found the largest cashe of hammered coins in the USA.:BangHead:
Come on people lets wake these MODs up. Pull the trigger on that Banner button, this deservers a spot on the top.
Keep up the great work Dane you have some stunning finds.
Is it possible to get a picture of the complete hoard.
ZDD

HISPAN, as far as I know, this find never reached the Banner :dontknow: :laughing7:

Now, the find has grown to 22 coins and 2,8 grams of ancient gold.
Here a picture of the last 10 coins and the piece of gold found this spring.

:occasion14:

My suggestion is look at the Banner :tongue3:

Not sure why it's not in your banner listings,
but am working on it.

perhaps the edited title removed it.

I´m sorry, Jeff.
I looked in my banner listings, forgot that it actually got there.

Excuse me, but the find didn´t stand in my list of banner finds, and I had forgotten that it was actually on the banner.
It wasn´t I who mentioned the banner at all, but an other user. I am actually not concerned about being on the banner or not.
I read your post as an other way to say that one can not be on the T-Net without being online all the time and post more finds.
I didn´t know that it works that way. I can not live up to such demands.

Therefore I´ll ask Jeff to delete my account on the T-Net.

I was happy to be here.
Have a nice time, also to those who just look in on the site occasioanally.

TheDane

your fine here :icon_thumright:

I just went through the process of getting your Banner recognized on your Profile.

Your Not getting out of here That easy. !!!!!

Roman Silver Denar Coin Hoard !!! - Unwanted due to british envy !! :-(

All pictures and information given by me in this posting to this find have been deleted by me.
I do not want to go up against the British "SS-regieme" that seems to rule here as far as finds from Europe are concerned.
You got it all for yourself, SS ...

That is a really big shame. This find was another 'best of Tnet', it should have been kept as a form of encouragement. It's important that you keep showing your find because your story's always include the highest ethics & we need more of this in our hobby. You could easily keep your finds & not hand them to the Museum but you follow the Law & do what is right in your country, this needs to be seen by others. Don't let 1 man's opinions run you off, you have kept calmer than me, so keep doing so.
