Mannaged to slip a days holiday in today so of I went to my favourite field :icon_sunny: the outher week I had my first Roman Umbonate Brooch and today I had my second, unlike the first this one was broken :'( still some nice detail left, next good find another first for me a Saxon Bell again broke and a bit bent but nice ring & dot pattern. The Roman bronze coins were popping out even though we had give this area a good going over and one of them being my biggest this year  once again towards the end of the day out popped the best of the day in the form of a Heraldic Pendent or Mount with a Cross on the front, this one will need a bit more research

I will say it again, I am soooo jealous! but love watching yours & Crusaders posts. How do you do research on your pieces?
Do you ever take them to a museum, or would you be afraid of not getting them back. & a stupid question, but do you learn much of the roman history in elementary & high school? There is so much written history there. I love searching for native american artifacts, but boy would I love a nice piece of saxon, celtic, or roman history in my hand even if just for a few minutes.

Happy Hunting.

Hi....I do all my researching by books or by internet and the ever reliable Crusader helps out once in a while ( for Hammered Silver I use Spinks coins of England) the Museum can only take Artifacts that are of precious metals i.e . Gold or Silver and coins of one or more from the same time period in precious metal :thumbsup:TK.
