I found this other day and don’t have a clue as to what it is. I believe it is brass. A friend of mine found the exact same thing 100 miles away on the same day.

Anyone know what it is?

It's part of the handle or "nib" of a scythe. This brass piece is the part that rests on the shaft and the iron ring goes through the center:
