Went to the place of the former village. Possibly there was a market or hotel near main road. My detector caught weak, but a good signal. Some minutes I dug a hole what to get it. At first I thought that it was the silver coin, but soil was scattered and the hole of 15 inches in depth gave here this miracle.
Silver ring of the 16th century. On a ring the man with a saber and a plant is represented.
At this time in Russia the tsar Ivan the "Terrible" governed..

sure. You can see eagle head on right and the wings - other wise it's in quite a corroded shape from being in the ground so long, as are all Colonial period coppers in PA that I've dug.

That is an awesome find. If I found it, it would be priceless also. Congratulations on saving a nice piece of history.

I would say it's a banner find, Man that is beautiful. nice find and it should be on top.

COOL! its imposible! You can show other party of a coin? Probably we will be able to define its age/

ok this is one of the largest coppers that I've found. It is 28mm (millimeters) or 1 and 1/8 inch in diameter. I had it soaking in oil since I found it. The detail is somewhat better now.

this coin to find in Russia often. But what it does in America? ? ? I read a little history. at 18-19 century Russians had econom-politic relations with Europe, probably, someone took away the Russian coins to Europe, and from there travelers transported a coin on your continent. Still option: many Russians during the different periods emigrated to America, they could take coins with themselves and there lose.

I've yet to comment but did 'like' it from the start.

I will vote banner based on rarity & condition, I think if it were gold it would be up there already.:dontknow:

my research shows that a wealthy family from Central Europe lived on property in 1800's. So they must have been using Russian Large coppers over there in that country. And they could have been from Russia too. So you just never know what you'll find in the states with all the immigration that has occurred.

at us, in the central part of Russia we as have various finds from the different countries. I found coins of Finland and Sweden. The friend found Holland, Denmark, Germany. I speak not about modern coins. It were coins before 1920, medieval coins, and even ancient Rome. Recently one of my friends found 25 cents of the USA 192 * years, unfortunately in bad condition.

I don't do this often, but I hit the banner button on this one. Congrats.

Just a reminder, just saying banner in a post is not a counted vote for banner. You must hit the red "nominate banner" button on the top right of the page and explain your nomination.
