Satellite Beach Florida getting new sand.

Treasure coast Florida, from Florida Today:

" Bulldozers spread new sand and some relief Wed., restoring dunes that Tropical Storm Fay and other storms washed away last year. The same contractor from last year; CKA LLC from St. Cloud, began placing sand this week from borrow pits in Indian River County. Trucks will haul in about 162,000 cubic yards of sand - about 9,500 truckloads - for the estimated $4.7 million project. "

Well, I am " relieved " of any need to hunt here for some time......
Hopelully the new sand will be cleaner than the dirty crud they dumped on Sebastian.

When will the Govt. SOB's learn that adding sand isn't the answer!!!! Buy out the properties that are in danger one by one and turn them into public parks. In the long run it will be much cheaper and will bring in many more tourist dollars.

See the other thread on this..it is an absolute travesty. The bozos who think dirt from a borrow pit is the same as beach sand should be fired! Irresponsible, unprofessional, detrimental, counterproductive,....help me out here.

Anchor a Nessie Reclamation 8 inch Dredge about a 1/4 mile out and start dredging the sand off the bottom through an 8 inch hose, the slurry water will run back into the ocean leaving beach sand behind. Over a course of days or weeks, the dunes are replenished with beach sand, your only out pay is diesel for the Nessie and a couple of payloaders pushing the sand around. Do I have to do all the thinking around here?
