Hi all,

I went to my favorite tree farm for a quick 2 hour hunt. I started out at a friends house circa 1750 and found some spare change. Then I went to the tree farm for about an hour. I hit the same o'l spot in the garden. The corn was just harvested in that spot. I unearthed a rather nice large button only 2" deep. Then I hit this George II at just over 10" deep. My deepest large copper ever. No date as it is a bit worn but most likely 1730's vintage. I love buttons and copper. This was a super hunt for me. After the past two detecting adventures turned up nothing I was quite pleased with this weekend ;D Here are the pics of the spare change, buttons and copper :)

Nice coppa. Much better than the King George II I found recently. Can't get a date off mine either. It's slightly crimped where the date is. How strong was the signal at 10 inches?

wow nice

really nice!

Nice finds Ed, like the buttons, some great designs there and the King George looks pretty good. Congrats

Congratulations, those are some nice finds.

I can't get over the depth, you had to really work to get that copper.

That's a sign of a good detecting skills if you ask me.

HH,

Hi Evolution the signal was that of a deep pewter button. It was sort of crappy and an 'iffy' signal. I dug it because it repeated if I swung the coil over the spot a tiny bit from side to side. I use a little mini-garden spade to dig in this garden area. The shovel itself is about 9" deep. I dug into the dirt and took a scoop out. I scanned the hole and the target was still in there. I took another scoop out and saw the copper in the bottom side of the hole on an angle. It was about 10" deep. The deepest ever for a copper for me. Thanks for asking :)

Hi Kirk I was wondering if that could have been a 'dandy' I am not sure of the actual dimensions for a dandy button. Any ideas? The one that I found is about 2" in diameter. The largest I've found so far.

That's a dandy alright. 2" is certainly big enough. Excellent KGC (that's King George Copper! LOL). Still waitin for mine. Been too much into CW stuff lately; not enough into the colonial sites...

Cheers,

Hi Ed,

Great finds... I need to start hitting some fields around here - there are tons of them...

Going to pick up a new White's tomorrow - can't wait to try it out...

Nothing wrong with my old one - just want one with depth detection...

Talk soon.

Way to go! Wish I could find something like that around here...
