I haven't posted in a while as I do not have a camera but decided to let you all know what has been happening. On my way home yesterday from work I had to go around an open bridge. I passed a tot lot that I hunted once before pulling up only clad. As I passed by it was loaded with kids and some others playing tackle football in the grass and wood chips. So I decided to hunt it later that evening figuring I would at least add to the clad count for the year.

Got there about 7:15 P.M. got the M6 all ready along with the cyclops light I use. Started scanning and immediately began picking up the clad. Came across one signal that came up as a penny/dime about 2" deep in the chips. To my surprise I pulled up a half dollar size token. It has a scull and cross bones on it with "dead man tell no tales" on the reverse it says gold dubloon 1587 and has a shield in the center. Yes it is gold in color. So this will now be my lucky charm when I go detecting. After a couple of more clad digs I hit on a penny signal and pull up a small heart shape pendant that say #1 on one side and sketcher girl on the other. I think it is silver plated as in one corner it is fading to brass. Ended up with $3.42 in clad that included a 41 nickel, I know some call them war nickels and some do not. Either way not a bad night of hunting for an hour.
Thanks for reading and HH Roy.

Way to go man... I never night hunt... Thats some dedication there! Thanks for posting...

:D Nice way to spend a cool evening. In my minds eye I can see your token and the little heart, you did a great job describing them. I, too, can't post pictures. I use this old Webtv system, not compatable with Tnet's programs...
HH and good luck with your new good luck piece.

Thank Montana Jim and kg6yll. I know get pictures!! I will have to ask my son to take some with his digital camera if I can hold him long enough to help me. In his last year of college and a girlfriend take up all of his time. I have to hunt at night now as it is dark in the early morning hours and dark in the early evening hour here in Weymouth Massachusetts. The places are pretty safe but I still keep my eyes and ears open. I have wireless headphones so I can hear someone or something approaching. The only things I really need to watch out for are coyotes and skunks. lol. Thanks for your response it is appreciated without the pictures.

Hey,

Sounds like some good finds and a fun hunt. War Nickels were only minted from 1942-1945 The Mintmark was moved above the dome and the alloy changed to 35% silver. Just for those years, a 1941 is a normal nickel, but still old, a good dig.

Keep @ it and HH!!
