School is out--well, sort of . . .

Hello All,
End of year equaled a massive amount of work. God Bless teachers and administrators that work in public education.

Since March, when my business really picks up, I only worked 4 boxes of halves per week with an occassional dime and nickel box thrown in. Skunk boxes galore. Only thing that saved me were the once-in-a-while CWRs. I was so silver starved that I almost bought halves on ebay.

Friday was graduation. I began work at 6:30 AM and did not return home until 5:15 the next morning. We have a lock-in for our seniors at the high school which is great for the kids . . . but a killer for the adults.

I finally dragged myself home and slept a few hours. When I awoke, Mr. Apush had surprised me with 7 boxes of halves, 2 boxes of dimes, and 3 boxes of nickels (and a 12 pack of Modelo Especial with extra limes). He called it my "down-time."

So, I finally hit a bit of silver. Completed 5 boxes thus far out of the 7:
8--90% (including a 54 Ben)
15-40%
1-Clad Columbus Comm (1992)--first Comm in a very long while.

Not much as compared to the massive finds posted here, but I will take it.

Summer School starts Monday.

Well, I have 3 degrees, a BA, and two MA's: one in American 20th century history and one in education administration. I would like to add that I have over $50,000 in debt for graduate school and that is one heck of a payment every month. I could only wish I made 90K per year, but here in Texas, we don't get paid squat-doodlee. It is for the love of the kids is why most teachers/administrators do what we do. Like any job, there are bad apples, but for the most part it is in the "heart." I understand what Mr. Merc is saying--there are lots of districts that shell out the big dough--but not my socio-economically disadvantaged school.

Now for CRH: last 3 dime boxes produced 2 Roosies and 2 Mercs and 1 box of nickels produced 1 ragged war.

In that case, my apologies. My friend makes over 6 figures now, and is getting his doctorate on the school's tab so he can become a Super. God knows how much he'd be pulling down then. I have enough trouble empathizing with his "money" problems now, which are mostly making his mortgage payment and the payment on his BMW. Needs to learn to live within his means.

PS. If you wanna pay off that debt, move north for 10-15 years, stock up some cash, and move back to TX. That's my rough game plan for retirement... live in areas with a high cost-of-living and then retire somewhere with a low cost-of-living.

Private schools are far more expensive then public education and Homeschool children miss out on the interaction with their peers.

I wouldn't want to be both of them, but I was just responding to the fact that not every one goes to a public school.
