School me on CWR

So I thought I knew CWR, asking tellers I trust to put back old looking CWRs (like the salmon colored late 70s penny wrappers). However I have struck out without a single silver or interesting wheat in likely over $1500 in CWRs. Something isn't right. I thought maybe it was a teller but I started getting CWRs from other locations. Overall same result. Whast up, how do I improve this?

I try not to confuse tellers by asking them to save "old looking" rolls. I just ask for all rolls brought in by customers. It's usually not a huge amount of coin if you come by every week or so. I can't say for sure why you have been skunked in $1500 of CWRs, but silver is just not easy to find in the wild. In my last batch of CWRs I was skunked by the quarters and nickels. The dimes produced one Rosie.

Buy it all and buy it often from different branches/banks. Things will turn around with the holidays coming up.

People buy old wrappers and use them. Or they have a bunch stored at their house. Just because a wrapper is old doesn't mean the coins in it are going to be old.

Its a different version of the game of CRH. On top of the odds of getting the jackpot, you also need to consider your area's demographic. Are they old, are they wealthy? Hone in on those factors and I think you will increase your odds of getting some of those solid granny rolls.

First off, by asking tellers to put back old looking CWR's, you have clued them in to the fact that there might be something in those rolls. I'll bet you anything that they look through those very rolls and take out and replace any silver they find.

Number one rule of CWR's - take them all!

this is very true. I stopped by a bank today, bought 100$ CWR dimes and there were 4 rolls that said new haven savings bank on them , and that bank closed like 10 years ago. There was nothing but 2005 and later coins in those rolls. However the rest were cointainer brand rolls and produced a 1964, 2x 1963, and a 1951-s. I still have the solid orange quarter rolls from some company in massachusetts, that i dont think exists anymore. As always with coin roll hunting its luck of the draw.

I don't understand all of the confusion surrounding CWR halves here lately. I think everyone has hyped them up to become some fantastically rare and elusive thing. The fact is this: they are where you find them and you buy them all even if have good reason to suspect dump.

You might be making them interested in what you are looking for in those old rolls, and they are now sniping you on all the silver. You might be better just buying all CWR's and leaving out any details.
