School/Park hunt. 3 Silver. Sunday 2-3-08

[Mike95inNJ]

I got out this morning for a few hours nice and early. My hunting buddies could'nt hunt today so I went alone. I've hunted this place years ago with my old detector and did find a few silver so I thought I would see how the Shadow X5 would do. I was not in the mood to dig trash so I pushed the disc up to 7 and the sens to almost 9. Within the first 30 minutes I found the sterling ring. Went on to find two silver rosies 59' and 64' along with six wheaties all in the 40's. Still alot of area to go back over when I'm in a bind for a place to hunt.

mike you always amaze me... let me ask ya a question..when you hunt a beach area, do you use your x5 too?

Hiya Rae. I only hunt the beach if everything else is frozen, but when I do I usually take the X2 and leave the X5 home. I have used both. The woman I bought my X5 from sold it because she's mainly a beach hunter and did'nt like the way the X5 reacts in wet sand. It has a beach mode disc to help quiet it down a bit but I don't use it.
Take care, Mike

8 silver coins. Oldest 1853 Seated dime. Newest 64 rosie. I only get to hunt for the most part on Sundays, but still gets me some silver here and there. I had a good small park for the later part of 07' that gave up a nice handful of silver inluding my first Morgan dollar. Need to find another one. We're all set up to start a new field this Sunday. Good location, with Rev War activity here. The four of us are chomping at the bit. We have our pork roll egg and cheese sandwiches at a breakfast joint (building) that dates to the 1700's. Gotta get into that Colonial mindset.
Take care, Mike
