scoop question

I have a wet sand scoop but its only 5'' in diameter so I am looking for something to dig some bigger holes and also take into the water. I have seen the TRex and Stealth Scoops but they are $200. So, my question is this...there are these scoops on ebay for like $80, which look exactly the same as the Trex/stealth, even have the same thickness, dimensions, etc. Here is an example - Beach Sand Scoop 11mm Holes Skif Metal Detector Tool from 2mm Stainless Steel | eBay

Has anyone used these? Are they ok, junk, good? And if I were to get one, do you just take any lowes/home depot handle and screw it in to it?

It's been my experience that two old sayings are valuable guidelines:

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true."

"You get what you pay for."

Now I can't say with any degree of authority that this scoop falls into one or both of those categories but I do have considerable experience with scoops and true quality doesn't come cheap. I'd bet that if you spend $77 today on that scoop, you'll be spending $200 more in the not too distant future when that one fails for a proven scoop like the Stealth or T-Rex...total investment=$277. For my money, I'd rather pay the $200 now and be sure of what I was getting. But as I always say, "That's just the view from my foxhole."

I have (err... had) a digger that looked just like my Lesche.

Then I had another one that looked just like my Leache.

Then I bought a Leasch. Now I don't have to buy any more diggers.

I had two previous beach scoops.

Now I have a Stealth. I don't buy any more beach scoops either.

after what happened to my TRex scoop I'd consider taking back that old saying although I usually believe it as well.

Buy the Stealth 720i. I like it better than the Stealth 920i because the 720i scoop is deeper in design.
There is a reason they cost what they do. Not only are they a work of art but what sets Stealth Scoops apart from the others is they perform very well on the beach and in the shallow water.
Don't waste your money on lesser scoops only to have to purchase a better one later. Been there done that!

Looks like I have no other choice haha I will probably get a stealth scoop this week. My 5'' metal scoop just requires too many scoops to get the targets on my CZ21 and I have a feeling it will be even harder when my whites DF gets here.

Love my 6" RTG. Built like a tank and the handle wont break or crack like wood does. Its your $$$...

You won't know until you try it. It might actually be a good scoop. Then again it might not.

I have a 5 inch RTG. I just find that I am scooping a number of times to get make a decent size hole to find a target. I just feel like something that was 8-9 inches would solve that problem.

In comparison to the Stealth 720i, take a look at the thickness of the metal and the lack of gussets and braces in the upper corners. That's where the lesser scoops have the most failures.
