Hey all, got out again on Saturday. I actually had orientation for CSU for half the day, and afterward we tried hitting an old park we’ve never been to before. Started off finding a few deep clad coins. The lack of overall signals was pretty surprising. I came across a signal that I probably would not have dug had we been at a different site where coins weren’t usually so deep like this. I said what the heck and dug down and starting prying dirt out from the bottom when suddenly a buffalo nickel and a wheat flew out of the hole into the air along with the dirt. So that was the first good sign that this place would become a regular hunting site. I checked the hole again and called Mirage over with his little probe on his Exp2 to help with the remaining targets in the hole as it was filling up quick with water. Pulled another wheat from it and also the key. We carried on and found a few more wheats before dad announces he wants food (I was hungry too) and wants to warm up (it was cold and windy)…this would cut out from our detecting time as it was getting late, but we gave in to hunger anyway. So we were walking back to the car with the detectors still on and I would pause every now and then to investigate a few high tones…one signal didn’t sound GREAT but it was good enough to dig…I flipped the plug…there it was, sitting in the bottom of the hole with the imprint of the coin undisturbed at the top of the plug…I called dad over and we could see that it was either a barber or a seated dime…flipped it over…SEATED!

Boy did that feel great, especially with not finding one last year (cause we got 5 seated coins 2 yrs ago combined). And I kinda found it hard to believe that it was just sitting there in a public park like that…all in the open and an easy target.

But so THEN…we STILL stuck to our plan of getting food. Sigh….so we returned to the park with not much time at all left and didn’t really get anything else but there’s a lot of area to try at this place and much of it looks very promising.

All my junk (which isn't that much actually)...sometimes it's tough to tell whether the deep target is iron or a coin...with the high chirps and all

So we’ll be back for sure…thanks for looking yall; good luck out there!

Congrats on the seated Nate! I know of some other VERY old parks that are now in terrible neigborhoods...that should not be an issue if we go as a group. Wading through the toplayer of 40oz screwcaps might be though. As soon as I get the DFX back up and running it'll be another great season for us ...I know it!

Oh yeah..I just spoke breifly with your Dad. The spot where I found all the colonial stuff last year (near where I work) has just had all the trees ripped out as construction of the retirement village begins. I talked with one of the construction (destruction?) workers and got a schedule as to when the area is clear. Looks like maybe THIS Saturday early (we would have to leave around 3 for Spencer's baseball practice)
I can almost guarantee that between us we should find some oldies!

Can't believe you're off to college!

Very nice finds and a big congratz on the great seated ~ Jimmy

Cool story Nate and Congrat's on the Seated......Who know's what the outcome would have been if Hunger hadn't set in.Best Of Luck to you in College and HH!!

Nice finds Nate,

They never get them all. I've had similar days at tough hunted parks. Can't find a clad but you can find a seated. The dfx really sniffs them out.

Congrats on the seated. That is a precious find in a park today. When I find a merc in a park, I'm happy.
