Sea-worn item or just a rock?

I found this item on cape ann, mass. at low tide in an area that's all granite cobble and clam shell waste, and under about 8 feet of water at high tide. It's heavily worn but looks like at least one edge might have been worked.

There may be a possibility there . but i have no idea about ocean wear. but from Ky. standards it looks like it was something at one time.

i think what you have is nature playing a trick on you. we all find those from time to time...looks like quartzite...that kind of stone will make that shape quite often...i find them a lot...usually pink in my area.

I suspected that. Couldn't bring myself to toss it until I had another opinion or three.

That's a really tough one I'm leaning more towards it being a knife or point , I know water especially ocean really wears them but the right side in first pic really makes me think artifact. I found both of these in water heavily worn but have some of the same characteristics as yours. Well, I certainly am used to finding water worn pieces, including quartzite, on New England beaches. I would say it is a possibility, but I guess I would need to hold it in hand in this instance. But it's possible, IMHO. Think I would lean toward yes....

I would say yes... seems to be a heavily water worn blade of sorts.

it is the back side that clinches a "no" for me...looks sheared off in a characteristic natural manner...the next time i spot one i will try to post it.

Im leaning towards a yes on it. I believe its a uni faced knife. 1st pic shows flaking but very worn might be broken at one end any chance of seeing both ends of it>?
