Search for Desoto's Mauvilla Battle site

This article is a couple of months old but I thought it was pretty interesting, especially to me since I'm from Clarke County. Desoto killed thousands of Native Americans in the battle there and burned the village in 1540. He also lost most of his supplies including the religious paraphanelia of his clergy.
A gruesome coincidence is that the worst massacre of settlers by Native Americans to ever happen in what is now the U.S. occurred at Fort Mimms in roughly the same location in 1813.

I live just south of a place where Desoto was supposed to have a huge winter camp. The found a Spanish halberd about 6 miles from my house.
I would love to have Desoto's translated notes and maps.
