There was a field that's been on my mind for a couple of years because we found a Saxon strap-end & a nice Saxon mount. The kind of period stuff that goes with a Sceat, assuming its a site like I suspect. Today we returned only to find it just had a 9 inch ankle breaker turn. We had driven too far not to make an effort. We last 2.5 hours & it beat me up a little trying to stay up-right, so we called it & moved to the Track-Way Site, another Saxon Site where we had 3 Sceats at the end of last year.
The first site surprised us with our first Roman stuff from that field & a stunning hammered 1582.
First Site;
Saxon Pot Shard
Roman Fibula bit
Roman Mount
Saxon Strap-end (type I need)
2nd C AD Roman Bird Brooch - VERY RARE; 4 record on the PAS, 2 in Hattatt's book & this is best of all of them. Thought to be an Eagle
1582 Lizzy Threepence - A scarce date with the sword mint-mark, easily £100+
The Track-Way Site;
3 Roman Coins
1721 Halfpenny
Jetton
2 Medieval Buckles
Broken Hammered Penny
