SO if Marty is making 100,000 per episode and does 20 episodes per year. He makes 2 million, and as someone mentioned above it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars ( they actually said a million for the 60'' driller ) to bring in the coffer dam people, 60'' drilling machine, drilling 100s of 6'' holes etc. Sure they probably are giving them a discount some what and using it as free advertisement for their companies but it costs alot. Their workers have to get paid as well and the be put up in hotels in town etc etc... Half the people on the show at any one time or another are listed as "producer" of the show at the end credits.. I hope they are making a profit off the show. We'd all like to be in their shoes and work 5 months a year and even then is it really work. Wake up, drive over to island, watch someone drill a hole, or dig a ditch, maybe you dig a 8'' hole as Gary metal detects, watch someone who is on their hands and knees using a hand trowel scrap dirt off dirt, have some meetings in the war room. It is probably very boring for most of them, so when someone does find something it is VERY exciting to them...

Documentary TV Series, The Curse of Oak Island Season 7, produced by Tell Tale International Inc., has been approved for a funding commitment of $3,540,925 based on an eligible Nova Scotia expenditure of $12,003,135.

So in season 7 with Rick and Marty receiving a total of $200,000 per episode and having 23 episodes, that results in a total of $4.8 million income from the show. Spending $12 million on the search is a nice tax deduction, and certainly not a money-making business in itself.

LOL.....only folks who care about this are the same ones who watch other fictional drama shows. The hoax island show has nothing to do with actual treasure hunting, its only for baiting weak minded individuals into believing what they are purveying ...

In the road near the swamp, they find some badly burned annular-ware pottery, dated to pre-searcher 1750's era. Gary finds a blasting cap and an ox shoe nail.

Carmen inspects the badly burnt iron rod from last week: possibly back as far as the late 1600s. Form typical of ship anchor.

At the Samuel Ball foundation, they find an old Goooooooooooooooooooolld coin containing an anchor pattern. Actually it turns out to be a British Royal Naval officer jacket button from 1804-1825

They go to investigate the wharf(s) just off the Samuel Ball lot. Diver Tony Samson finds the probable stone cribbing from the wharfs. The wharf closest to the Samuel Ball foundation is potentially very large - as large as 100 feet into Mahone Bay X 16 ft wide: too large for a fisherman's wharf. Could it be connected to Captain James Anderson?

Do you really think they are making money from the show that exceeds what they are spending?

In my opinion, the mistake some are making in calculating the cost of the show, is deducting the costs of drilling, digging, dams, and excavating from the Lagina's salaries. This is a fully funded TV show now, not the "reality" shows of yesteryear with two guys and a Go Pro, not only does History Channel (as well as advertisers and Nova Scotia) pay their salaries, it also is pays for all the action happening on the show, including the costs of digging, drilling, machinery, fuel supplies, guest "experts", travel etc.

Oak Island is a "Reality Show" in name only now, though it may have had humble beginnings where the Lagina's were paying for their own dig, it now works like any other movie or TV show. You don't pay Tom Cruise his salary and then turn around and tell him he has to pay for the sets, props, cars etc....It's no different here.

...but an ox shoe nail and a blasting cap, definitely NOT Templar debris, nor is the British Naval Anchor button or the "probable" stone cribbing....
...but Carmen eyeballs an iron rod and proclaims it is "possibly" from a typical 1600's anchor, from an "expert" who can't tell the difference between a button and a gold coin.
Being an expert is sure not what is use to be.
