Treasurenet--it's been too long! If the numbers are right, I haven't made a post since June of 2018. Wow!!

School has taken up about 102% of my time and energy, so having time to metal detect has become far and few. Occasionally, my dad and I do like to get out and do some swinging. It's like meditation for us.

Anyway.. We went out to a site with several house sites and a plantation. We dug for hours, but the finds didn't really start coming towards the end.

My dad has an unbelievable knack for coins. The last time we were out (which was in November, at an entirely different site, no less) he dug a seated dime. This time, he digs a seated half dime, and it's a beaut.

Here he is.. in the field with his find:

I was apparently designated as the button person today.. here's a nice looking Artillery button, dating from the War of 1812.

Reference: AY34-B (Albert's)

Also dug some neat civilian buttons from around the 1830's if I had to guess. Was told that they were family crests, or "livery" buttons.. really cool stuff.

Until next time.. happy hunting!

Terrific finds. I especially love the button and the way you metal detect with your Dad. Thanks for sharing.

That half dime is real nice, but I think the 1812 button is even better! My goal for 2020 is to find one of those.. and a half dime too!

Congratulations on an awesome hunt. I really like those 1812 Artillery button:icon_thumleft:
