Sharing some finds from this afternoon. A quick scouting hunt at my town’s history center, AKA a 15 acre gentleman farm from 1849. Hopefully this is hunt 1 of many.

My first Seated Dime in almost a year.

Awesome to see big green’ness deep down. This was one of those squeaky 31-32 signals, definitely could have been rusty iron. Pic with other cents in the yard.

This piece popped out near the front of the home. Any ideas?

Silver washed Eagle-I CW button was a
surprise.

And a very small silver case pocket knife. Any ideas on age of this?

OUT·STAND·ING finds! Thanks for sharing...

Awesome digs, Thad! Congrats!

A nice permission in the back pocket and already some very nice keepers to show. Just had to see the Silver pocket knife dug. Excellent! Thanks for sharing your hunt. Nice!

Dang nice finds

excellent finds! the silver pocket knife is killer as are the other finds. I have found about 20 pocket knives, all beyond toasted LOL, never have found a good usable knife. stellar coin finds and very nice button. congrats and hope that you find more awesome stuff there

Looks like a potential dream site- Continued GL!!

Thx! The innards of the pocket knife were recovered as well, just slivers and blobs of iron that leached onto the silver outer case. Still trying to figure out how to remove the stubborn rust without damaging the very thin case halves.

Awesome!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Thx. Same here, many pocket knifes recovered, all had iron blades and beyond repair. I have one buddy that recovered a coin knife that was still usable after replacing the iron pins.

Great finds! Congrats!

That is the place to hammer. Looks like you hit it out of the park. The piece you weren't sure about appears to be part of a clock pendulum bob. Keep up the good work. All I'm finding in Az so far are a few common silvers and Wheats.

:occasion14:---- similar to this fruit knife--s-l1000 fruit knife.webp

Congrats on some nice coins. The seated coin is my favorite designed coin and those 3 cent nickels are as hard as hens teeth to find.

Thx Man! I am planning on cleaning, preserving and creating a display case so these finds will stay at their original site. Hopefully my next few hunts will be just as productive so I can create a robust display. Keepers popping out every 5 minutes or so is an absolute blast!

Pretty nice finds there. Congratulations.

Really nice hunt Thad. I'm proud that you actually knocked on a door and asked for permission lol. Nice variety. I'm curious about the silver washed eagle I. The first one piece buttons of that pattern were silver washed and possibly some of the first two piece buttons as well. They probably stopped using silver in the 1840s. Can you make out the back mark?

Thx Steve! Let me know if you can make anything out of the backmark.

Nice finds all around! Really like the 3-center.
