I've been digging clad most of the month and finally today had an urge to get out, swing slow and dig deep. Went to a Park I've hunted a few times in Western Ohio and only had about an hour to swing. Was a little warm and had a friendly swarm of mosquito's keeping me company. Wish I would have taken the camera with me for a few shots of this small park because it offered some great views!! First hit was right in the corner of the screen and was about five inches deep was the lawnmower hit quarter. Second hit told me it was a nickel and it showed deep. Dug a plug and again about the five inch range pulled the 1868 Shield Nickel!! I was pumped and did the double fisted pump because this was my first Shield Nickel of the year. Not more than a couple steps later had a rather crappy signal deep enough for me to dig and first I saw the back, already knew it was a Seated Dime by the wreath, but badly worn. My second Seated Dime this year was dated 1854. I'll post a better pic later of the dime. The last hit of the day was my big copper and I enjoy finding this old copper wire because the price of copper being so high it doesn't take much of this to add up!! Unfortunately time was up and had to get home to take my daughter to the park for some fun. I haven't been posting my clad and getting close to 7000 for the year, not DFX Gregg totals, but I'm enjoying both the old and the new finds!!

Hey Indy even on this forum those coins look really nice. If you need any help from a Buckeye let me know, I got some bug spray. You just about have to dip your whole body in it, but the rewards are Awesome.

nice finds....your clad dollar amount total is higher though!

Awesome job in that park, bud. The finds can be rewarding when you know others have detected the area before.

I performed a double fist pump for you!

You drove from Indiana to eastern Ohio for an hour's hunt? Man, that's dedictation.

Great coins BTW.

Nice mix of coins, Shield nickels are hard to come by!

Don

Nice! That nickel came out in pretty nice shape, compared to here.

I've hit a few schools and the clad count and dollar count goes up, but my old coin finds are normally low. I've been playing with the Ace 250 and with school being in I'm enjoying the fresh coins. I also don't dig every penny, not against picking them up out of the wood chips, but in a newer area where I know a ton of zincolns are I just pass over and spend my time digging nickels, dimes, and quarters! I am hitting the big city this weekend(Saturday) and sure my penny count will be high!

You are dedicated! :)

Its kinda of misleading because I'm in Indiana and drove to Ohio, but a 15 minute drive to Ohio for a 1 hour hunt in a Park I go to when I want out of Richmond isn't too bad. By the way, here are my big copper coins and one might have a date of 1768, but could be 58 or 88 too! These three were sent to me by a friend in New Hampshire!

So are you saying you drove just across the border and hunted in WESTERN Ohio? Eastern Ohio would be considered east of the halfway mark (Columbus approx)
