Very nice find! You have frost already? None here in New Jersey

turf farms around here would frown upon digging I bet

Hi; The 1954 date is when they Graduated. Look up the School. Then look up the Students who's initials match those on the ring. Then call the school and give them the info. They can find that persons latest address and or relatives. Good Luck. PEACE;RONB

Awesome find..not only is it gold...but beautiful gold! Great looking ring, congrats on the gold...ddf

That's a Nice Chunky gold there!! :headbang:

Nice! 7.96g of 10K is quite the score! :treasurechest::occasion14::skullflag:

Wow! Great find! Congratulations on second gold! H Digs

Yep that's a score,
There is a Saint Joseph College in Maine as well as New York and Indiana. If the ring owner graduated in 1954 at the age of 22, that would make him/her 84 today
Wouldn't it be an incredible story if the owner is still alive and you were able to return the ring?

That would be a fairly easy one to track down and it would make for some great PR on MDers. The PR would be too easy if you just used a reporter in the area of the person to track them down.

Nice find Chris. With the history of that area, I'm sure there's a lot more awesome finds waiting for you to discover.

I just sent an e-mail to the Maine college for help finding the owner, returning it is better than finding it!!
