Hey Guys!

My name is Jon originally from South Dakota but currently in Orange County CA.

I've considered myself a treasure hunter my entire life but really want to spend some serious time exploring/hunting California. In South Dakota i've done a little bit of everything. Metal detecting, gold panning, fossil hunting, digging antique bottles and really love it.

I'm looking to buy my first serious detector. I've been doing a ton of reading and won't go into detail here but probably looking at the tesoro sand shark. Before coming to Cali I really wanted the AT pro but it seems it's pretty weak at salt water beaches. I'm looking to research beach erosion and how to hunt in wet sand. If anybody has any links or books I should read let me know! (I'm not being lazy I plan on doing lots of research in the forum but any quick reference points would be appreciated)

I'm also really interested in researching and hunting "big" treasures. I'm highly experienced in hiking, camping, backpacking and would love to be part of a team looking for something big! I'm sure it's a long shot but i'm willing to pull my own weight if anybody is looking for some manpower.

Look forward to learning from everybody here!

Jon
