image.jpg i found this today. Anyone know what it is? I found it where i find a bunch of Seminole War artifacts.
 

Can we see some more photos? Weight, what its made of ect? I can't tell but the Pro's on here will need more info. I hope it gets an ID because I want to know what that is too!

Well thats all it is right there. Its extremely thin probably less than the thickness of a dime.

This isn't even a scientific wild azzed guess, it's just a wild azzed guess. Perhaps shoulder scales. I know it's different from the Civil War shoulder scales, but perhaps the Seminole War uniforms were different. That's a guess from a guy that knows nothing, hopefully someone will get on here and identify your find, because I'm also interested in finding out.

Yeah, I guess epaulette would be the proper word/name, but I've also heard them called shoulder scales, at least I think I have, at 76 sometimes I get confused and get stuff mixed up with reality.

Yeah while researching them today, i saw them called shoulder scales also :)

To me that looks like iron. Would an epaulette be made of that?

Unfortunately yes, which is slightly confusing. So far epaulette is the only thing that makes sense. I'm wondering if the iron went under the brass of the epaulette to make it sturdier. I can probably take it to a coin store in the next couple days, the guy who owns the store would probably know what it is.
