Nice patch. You are smart to know what it looks like. I saw the title and thought you had mis spelled. . Going to let it go to seed first?

The wild stuff is the best!
Nice find.

On a side note.."SOHIO" if your reading this..thanks again.

Yes. It's already losing it's berries. The season just started. I usually broadcast the berries in the vicinity of the plant because you know the conditions are right already. The wild root is way more valuable than the cultivated kind. Illinois root is considered the finest in the world. I live in treasure heaven and fiscal hell.

Wild ginseng..."seng"

Oh I dont think it grows here. I had no clue

Last year it fetched $680 a pound, dry. Hoping for more this year.

Isn't that used in producing ephedra? I once was an herbalist. Never got into the root.

Not sure about that. It is being put in most herbal remedies these days. All the energy drinks and such. I guess that's why the demand is high as well as the price.

I'm sure being American grown and wild would cause higher value, would it not? Isn't most ginseng from Asia? Sorry for so many questions. Just say Google it if I annoy you.

"Just say Google it if I annoy you."
LOL.

Now we know the pass word

Wild is worth way,way more than cultivated. In the wild the roots fork and get very large. Cultivated is a whole different thing. It is indigenous to Eastern America and sold to Asia. I catch people on my deer cams digging it :( Used to you could get 800 to a 1000 per pound. It grows every where here with the emergence of the tulip poplar. Look for things like trillium in the spring and companion plants. I plant my berries back in the hole I dig. I may go this weekend .
You did well with that patch. I bet you will be back.
