Hate to break it to you , but Salmon Creek flowing into the North Fork is too High...get down on the Yuba closer to Sierra City,careful most the river is under Claim and some will take pop shots at you..Go futher down to Union Flat Campground, area Some San Bernadino boys have a club there...ask for permission to pan..or justs below at old Camp Yuba private property, they have alowed folks to prospect.
Don't get suckered into buying that claim that was for sale, you lose your shirt...also try below Downieville at Indian Valley Campground area..Check out the GPAA for locations to pay as well..might have to purchase a membership but you get a guide book on all the claims around..

rangler -- thanks for your help. is there any gold to be found on the salmon creek that runs to the northwest from downieville than north a way the salmon creek turns west? JOHN
