Thanks for the comments. Looks alot like one of our resident Coopers Hawks, his skinny legs made me look twice and conclude that it must be a Sharp-shinned.

Great photos, we have had both the Cooper and the Sharpie at our feeders, they sure love Morning Doves. I got to hold a Cooper that zigged when he should have zagged a couple years back, he flew right into our dining room window while attacking the feeder closest to it. It was a large "clunk" looked over saw the down type feathers flying and some stuck to the window, upon looking down, there he was sitting on the patio kind of stunned. I was not sure he was going to make it, but he let me pick him up, I saw no broken wings so I hoped he would recover shortly, which after placing him in the backyard, about half hour later he took off.

Great photos, we have had both the Cooper and the Sharpie at our feeders, they sure love Morning Doves. Great pictures mate . What camera and lens were you using?. I have been trying to get some good shots of birds of prey over here, but I think I need a bigger telephoto lens .

Thanks for the comments guys. Hammered, I am using a Nikon D-40 with a 55-200mm vr lens. The Hawk pictured above was only about 30 feet from my backdoor so it was an easy shot. Thanks again Ryan and Hammered.

I am tempted to go for the Canon EOS 7D with the 18 to 135mm lens to start with and , maybe going for the 75 to 300mm a bit later .

Thats a nice camera, a little too rich for my blood. I'm in less than a grand with my D-40 SLR with the zoom lens included and I'm happy. Good luck, the 75-300mm lens sounds like fun.
