So.... I got out today and searched the receded shoreline of my nearby lake. I was amazed at the amount of clad I was digging where some kids swim sometimes. I found an old Zippo... a Caesars Palace keychain lookin thing..... and then about 50' away from the dock I found a revolver. I got it home and started cleaning and talked to Roland58 about it... then researched some more and found it is a Gerstenberger and Eberwien .22 short.

Called the Sheriffs dept and they had me fill out a statement and I let my find go..... slim chance I'll get it back. He said he'd ask the Looie.... but... ya know how that is.

you did the right thing, somehow this will come back and do some good for you. I hated to give up that smith and wesson I found last month but I would hate to see someone get away with murder. besides if it is clear I should get it back. good job and thank you for doing the right thing.

Looks like it would render very little evidence as rusted as it is..Serial # or ballistic testing would be nearly impossible..
Hope you get it back..:-)

My friend found a rusted 22cal. pistol in a creek by a bridge and called the police...Tell told him that there's not much as to can do to see if it was involved in a crime or not..But they still took the pistol anyways.

It's o.k. you will sleep better.

These days, the authorities will almost always take the gun regardless of what condition. They never know what might happen with it or to it if they don't take it.

I have always wondered what I would do if I found a gun, I think I would do the same thing!!

Hi Deano; Yep, I think it is the right thing to do. It may bring a lonfg sought closer to a greiving Family. PEACE:RONB
