Ron & I went out to that property where I dug two $10 gold coins last year. We didn't find much ~ just a lot of junk. But Ron did find this cool looking shield thingy with a big ornate D on it. And the back ground is kind of a basket weave design. It measures 2" tall and 1.75" wide. It seems to be made of copper with a silver plating that's worn off quite a bit. It's got curved form to it ~ kinda like an emblem on the front of a bicycle. Any ideas?

Its a shield with a D on it. ;D ??? :icon_scratch:

Keep @ it and HH!!

When I saw the picture, I thought the same exact thing; a bicycle emblem!
I think we are close in our assumptions.

I think I'd be digging every target if I were you guys. Especially, after finding gold there previously.

Enjoy the swing time!

Looks like a nice saddle shield to me and an old one at that. We find these civil war relic hunting but they are not usually that nice. Good find!!

Yeah time goes so fast that just might date the Morris era.

Thats one nice find. I'd be on the internet for days looking up what it is. :icon_study:

Found one almost identical except mine has an Ornate N on it. It was found at an old lumber mill site in East Texas. Been curious as to what it is. If you find out let us know.

I say Saddle Shield, I dug one in Tennessee at a Union Camp just like it, it had a Mason emblem on it. It is pictured in Frank Lords Civil War Book, Volume 3 #...Lee
