Found in dec. It was solid rock with curved shape. Made rookie mistakes cleaning it. Now im making rookie guess

Look like an ore holder off a boat. What kind of metal is it ?? Brass??

There is also another small piece that came out of the brass. I will send another pic with the broken piece as it looked before I roookied it up. Do that tonight
