I got out yesterday evening for a short hunt in the West End area of Pittsburgh. A short while ago I finally ID'd the holed token doing some research. Only 2 finds on this under 2 hour hunt as I've hit some of this area with the ATP 3 years ago.

1800s era Temperance Token. This area was also known as Temperanceville (dry town) before being annexed to Pittsburgh and renamed the West End.

Then not too far from the token i found a fresh 1913 Dime. My youngest Barber coin all time.

I'll be back in the woods tmrw for a longer hunt, fingers crossed that I find more good stuff.

Thanks for looking, good luck out there!

The token is really cool.

Love that old little town. Alot of history in that area. I used to live in Ingram.

I've made some finds in the area over the years

Nice token I'd lover to find a temperance token! The barber is a beauty too! Congrats on it all!

Cool history with the token! Congrats

A fine little relic and a bit of treasure to boot - well done! Congrats mate! :occasion14:

Man that Barber Dime is in amazing shape, is it worth getting it slabbed & graded?

"USA Coin Book estimated value of 1913 Barber Dime is worth $3.74 in average condition.
It can be worth $115 - $244 or more in Uncirculated (MS+) mint condition, Proof Coins can be Worth $626 or more."

Enjoyed reading the background history on the 1800s Temperance Token you found.
Too bad that the Old Stone Inn, shown in a current pic on Google Maps is looking pretty rough now. :sadsmiley:

Thx! I'm working on a P mint Barber dime collection so this was a very needed year.

There's banners currently on the closed Old Stone Inn asking for donations for building rehabilitation. I'd love to have a drink there if it reopens. Here goes a recent article.

I'm sure T-ville area has treated you nice on past hunts. I was digging some rough barbers lately so it's nice to find another fresh one.
