Then some teenagers in the parking lot started hanging around my car.
So I cut the hunt short and when I walked up they left. Kind of creepy, but worth it. ;)

As we in the frozen north live vicariously through all of you who are thawed enough to detect, I want to commend you for getting out at all hours of the day!! I will probably consider going out at night when the weather around here gets above freezing and the snow melts.

Great find, keep up the good swinging!!

Terrific hunt Ridley! And in the dark of night, what great ears and eyes you have. I understand about the teenagers, when they start hanging out near your ride, you can't concentrate anymore. You don't want to scare them or harm them but in the same token you don't want any trouble either.
Here's the problem.
There's a growing presence of gang related activity in my town. Since it's just starting, the powers that be don't quite know how to handle it.

They hang out at schools and sometimes break bottles and trash the fields. I'm sort of caught in the middle. I actually cleaned all the plastic bottles and trash
off a field a few weeks ago.

If the town declares war on these kids, the fields will be locked up along with the entire school property.

If the schools are locked up at night in your town, that's probably why.

Way to go night owl. ;D
Just get yourself a couple of magnetic "Cary Police Dept" decals for your car doors, and one of those starter pistols & fire off a few rounds. That should take care of it. ;D
Just kidding. I don't want to have to bail you out. I don't think they would accept clad as payment?
Congrats on the ring.

Nice ring, Ridley. Does it have any markings on it? And, yeah, gang activity is on the rise over this way, too. There are a few sites I have found I would like to detect, but I bypass them due to their location.

Alright, Ridley. Neat ring.

Yes TDigger,

It has a 925 (the 9 is extra big for some reason). It also has DSK.

I went out again tonight. This extremely tiny tiny Chihuahua kept following me around the field of another school. Then it started to rain pretty hard. The dog is about as big as a cat except it barks incessantly at me.

My new headphones block out the barking really well. You'd think that dog would know me by now. It's not afraid of me. I guess it just enjoys barking.

Maybe I'll bring a dog biscuit next time. ;)

Sorry I disagree with carrying any type of pistol...unless your serious and are prepared to use it if challenged...and are willing to take the consequences.

Too many people, especially kids, have been shot by police, thinking they had a real gun.

My apologies for interrupting the subject of the "Night Hunt"...just had a brain fart...when it comes to guns.

WTG Ridley. Nice looking ring. Congrats!!

I am STILL looking looking for my first real ring....don't guess I dug up enough pull tabs yet.

Stefen,
The starter pistol was just a joke. See the smiley face? ;D So were the Cary Police decals. I wouldn't honestly expect Ridley or any other sane person really try that.

Nice ring Ridley, What part of NC are you in. My youngest daughter moved to the Charlotte area couple months ago. Is that a bullet in the pic ...

MM
Some people don't know how to take a joke, everyone know you leave the 44 magnum in the car, it's to heavy to carry around ..... ;)

Both MM and I live in a lovely little hamlet known as Cary. It's a bedroom community of Raleigh. That's why MM's joke was REALLY funny! All I'd have to do is
pull out a water pistol and 50 different law enforcement vehicles would appear within seconds.

(Including Keifer Sutherland). ;)

I don't know what the bullet thing is. It's really heavy though.

Yeah, but the .45 Officer's ACP fits nicely in a shoulder holster---or the back pocket. ;) ;) ;)

I've had people congregate around my vehicle before while detecting - probably not meaning to do any harm but just to be safe I pulled out the remote and hit the lock button once or twice. It blinked the lights and they moved over a few spaces. They never got any closer after that.
I could have hit the alarm but reserved that in case there were more drastic circumstances.
