Nice finds! I am not convinced that three "unstamped" ones are actually shotshell heads.

A rundown on what you have:

1901 Leader - This is a head off of a Winchester shell that was probably sold as an empty. Your particular one will date from 1904-1920. Contrary to information on the Internet, the 1901 headstamp did not replace the Winchester headstamp. They were both made at the same time.

Peters H.V. - This one will date from 1925-1927/32. It is a nice find.

Nitro Express - This is a Remington headstamp and it will date from the late 1920's to 1944.

Congrats once again!

I found this one as well but a while ago, it's my favorite.. Anything you can tell me would be awesome since you have immense knowledge about brass and head stamps.

I saw a post about this shell you did on another site but I was wondering if its a little rare?

Your Acme headstamp is a super find! As best as I can tell, it will date from 1896-1908. It is a very hard one to find. Out of approximately 5,000 heads that I have in my collection from around the world, I have less than five.

It is truly a rare find. There is very limited first generation information out there on this line of shells, but it seems to have been popular among competition shooter (skeet and trap). Here is a scan from an original UMC catalog showing the shell and the info about it.

Great find!!!

Hey Doug I want a "C.D. LEET"...........:laughing9:

I do want to add one more thing. The more detailed information that you can give me on this shell, the better chance the date range can be tightened. For example:

1. Determine the primer used (No. 3 was used from 1896-1903 and the No. 33 was used from 1904-1908)
2. Does it have a cannelure? (1896-1901/1902 no cannelure, 1902/1903-1904 cannelure, 1905-1908 no cannelure (but advertised as steel lined).
