Looks like the head of a small coal shovel except the lip is inverted. Could it be a curry comb ???
Found on an old dairy farm.

It looks like an old battery platform with the end guard lip partially rotted away.

I think its some kind of door/gate. The "handle" is a part of a self locking latch. Maybe from a small wood stove?

Curry comb looks right but how about a foot rest or pedal? That shaft certainly goes into wood though. Just thinking outside the box.

pretty certain not a shovel…..no place to put your foot on the back/top. I know Raleigh isn’t known for its winter weather, but looks similar to an ice (or sod) cutter, or potentially some type of scraper
