Got this at the Army/Navy Surplus back around 1981/2......never gave a second thought to ever using anything else, don't plan to change. Even still have the original sharpening stone.

Here's my very latest digger.

I don't have it yet as I just won the auction.

I have a bad low back and am always looking for something to reduce my bending and getting down on my knees (bad knee).

This is new I guess and the maker is offering it on ebay in very limited quantities.

The ebay seller is: productsale

"Description
EZ coin popper pro series is so easy even a child can use it.

With this tool you to can pop a coin out of the ground in under ten seconds.

Easy to use just pinpoint a coin or ring or whatever, push down and make a clean hole then pop out pull the lever and out comes your target its that easy perfect hole every time !! and leaves no trace you were there perfect for parks.

I have documented over 80 digs per hour that included finding the targets i average about 150.00 to 175.00 of coins per month with this unit the guys at the club went crazy when i brought in my finds once i told them how i do it they all bought them.

Made of stainless steel and light weight 2.5 lbs this tool is built to last with stainless steel nut and bolts this will be the last digger you will ever buy it comes with a 1 year manufacture guarantee.

With a patent pending we are seeking distributors just email us for complete info."

Badger, do you think that the plug is large enough that the grass won't die afterwards? I started hinging my "plug" after I had some grass die in my yard when removing plugs. Thanks

Good question.

I've used pluggers off and on since the 1980's. But for one exception, they all kill grass. In fact, anytime one digs a plug of any size with any tool the grass within that plug will eventually die UNLESS it receives sufficient moisture. I've tested this many times and all plugs die (except for the exception noted).

The only place in Michigan I hunted where the grass didn't die in a plug was a place by an old library that had underground sprinklers.

Some places where they receive a lot of rain are pretty safe for plugging.

Even at these locations the grass will suffer and may even turn an odd color but usually it will pull through.

I'm getting this plugger mostly because the places I hunt are not good turf locations. I'd never use this thing (or any plug tool) on a golf course type turf. On grassy areas that people sometimes drive their cars over or where the circus pitches its tents--yes.

I have a bad back and left knee. If it weren't for this you couldn't get me to use a plugger.

To use a plugger is to greatly increase the risk damaging the find.

So, for me it's more of a THIS WAY OR NOTHING thing.

They're all nice Eu_citzen but that park trowel with the thin stainless blade is extra nice.

For clean neat cuts that thin strong blade can't be beat.

Nice looking group.

That one with the 45 degree handle looks really interesting.
