Monday and tuesday I hunted two different sidewalk tear outs. Monday I was with BadJim and hunted a section in my town that was in front of 5-6 old houses. Tuesday I was hunting in a town north of me with my buddy Erich and it was almost 2 blocks long and the houses were all turn of the century. Sadly we ran out of time and I doubt I can make it back since it is over an hour from home. We barely scratched the surface there. But the finds were incredible!!!! 5 total silver, Frankling half, 2 mercs, and 2 rosies, 4 indians 1892, 1896, 1897 and 1907..the 1896 was laying right on the SURFACE of the sidewalk dirt!

Got several wheats, couple buttons, heart pendant which rang up like silver but I think it is just plated, a cool medal that says American Veterinary Medical Association
and it dated Aug 23-27 1920. And my Favorite find was actually the 1852 One Penny Bank of Quebec Token. It is huge! Bigger than a half dollar sucker weighs almost 19 grams!

I attached a couple pics of the tear outs....if you ever see these, hit em fast what ever is there will be covered up again for another 50+ years!

Great haul of some real nice finds! Thanks for sharing and the tip! It is time to load up the metal detector and start looking for sidewalk tearouts.

Wow that is so cool! Great finds!

Great hunt Goes4ever and way to seize the opportunity. I waited to long on a sidewalk and road tearout of a 1909 park here in town and have been kicking myself ever since. I think we'll all be checking to see how you do on round two!

Great finds like always, you find so many silvers that do you still get excited finding silver? Or is it just kinda boring?

Since sidewalks are public property, I assume if I ever see one of these tear outs that I don't need to get permission? Do the home owners ever come out and say scram?

are u serious??? This only makes 51 silver this year, I get PUMPED, EVERY single time I find silver!!! It is a RUSH to see the shiny!!!!!!

no permission needed, I had workers talking to me, a couple homeowners talked to me, curious what I was finding and wished me luck.....NO ONE acted upset or wanted me to scram

amazing finds!, i gotta ask, how did u find out about the tearouts and how did u get permission?, the sidewalk crew or the property owners? ok, nevermind, just read the above post lol

Best ones to find, road tear outs are even better.

Great finds. They are putting new water mains in our town and I try to check the piles of dirt they dig up every day after the workers go home. These water mains are in the streets and they close them off while they are working but nothing yet and I am thinking they maybe are going down too far for me to find anything but ya never know so I keep on trying.

I did find a 1919 wheatie in a spot where I have found my oldest coins ( for me anyway ) but I am afraid I have found everything this place has to hide. Covered this same large area with a fine toothed comb and with 2 different coils.

Awesome Finds!Love the pictures of the tear out. Did you stay where the sidewalks were torn out, or did you hit the grass areas as well? Nice job!

What an incredibly productive hunt! It sure gets my pulse going to see a handful of coins just out of the ground like that!
