Silver, a Us military button, and a whats-it

Hi All,

Hit silver today with a 1942 Merc. Got a US military button but I don't know much about buttons so I don't know how old it could be.

Also got the ceramic thing. I have no idea what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Lots of clad and bottle caps not pictured. The clad is in the coin tumbler and well you know where the bottle caps are at.

Nice silver, and button. The ceramic thing looks like an insulator used for wiring, the old knob and tube way.
