My hunting Buddy's have been digging a home site and finding some good stuff. I finally got a day off so I could go and I got my chance to dig the good stuff. I dug this ring and the set of corvette keys. I all so dug a few wheat pennies. My friend dug that day 3 Indian head pennies all 1900 or newer. On a previous day he dug three of the Egyptian chariot buttons. We can't seem to find any info on that button and would appreciate it if anyone has any information on it.

That last picture is just a size comparison for the button. Found the dime a few months ago. :icon_pirat:

Beautiful finds there pwcguy! :icon_thumright:
I wouldn't be surprised if those Corvette keys turn out to be
highly collectible! :notworthy:

I'm sure the keys would ba a lot more collectable if I had found the car that went with them. :laughing7:

Spoke to a 1960's Corvette collector today and described your find to him. "He felt that the keys were probably a promotional thing done by a car dealer in your area. He said that he had never seen a set of keys like the ones I was describing and that they probably dated to the mid to late 1970's". :icon_scratch:

I still feel that they're really cool! :icon_thumright:

I showed them to my boss today. He used to work in a GM dealership. Anyways he said that Chevrolet never made a set of keys like this and that they are probally after market. Still a cool find. I did a quick search on the web and didn't find any like it.
You never know what you will find when you dig that hole. :o

PWCGUY, I forwarded a picture of your find to a friend of mine that's in a Corvette Club and he inturn posted the picture in the clubs online forum and this is the answer that he got.

Hi David

On a very good Corvette forum, I posted a question and pic of the key your friend found. This was the reply;

"I had one of the key fobs that you are showing that was a blank and I had it cut for my 54 Vette I had and when I sold the car, I let it go with the car. I bought another one a few months ago on eBay from a guy in Calif. he has them on there all the time. I was the only one who bid on it so I got it for next to nothing. Now he put a reserve on that key fob (all of his are new) for about $59.00 I think. I paid way less then 1/2 that for mine. As far as what it fits, it will fit what ever car the key was cut for. That could be about anything. Because it has one key was cut for and the other blank and it is not in that good of shape, if you get $10.00 for it you better sell it or just hang on to it and display it."

So it sounds like you could buy a key fob like your friend's, with two blank keys. Then take it to a key cutting place and have them cut the blanks to match your car keys, no matter the year, make, or model.

Neat piece. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Dave
