Hello My Forumite Friends,

The month of January and the beginning of February has been very productive for me so far. All the recent rain we've been having has made the park turf come alive with deep signals. On Tuesday, I managed to find my 50th silver coin of the year so far. All my coin finds have been coming from previously well-hunted (Explorer'ed) parks. I've been patiently/persistently/methodically detecting these parks, and picking out deep coins amongst a plethora of low-mid conductor trash and modern clad. The only exception to my silver finds was the '45 Washington, which was found on top of an eroded hillside on Tuesday. It was just sitting there, all shiny. I called Mike(ratman) over to look at it before I picked it up. It was amazing to see a shiny silver coin sitting on top of a bunch of dark colored rocks. I'll take it!!

I've also been finding deep pieces of silver jewelry. One of the pieces is a southwestern style ring, which I'm sure was lost sometime in the 30's-40's based on its depth, and the coins I was recovering from the area. A woman inscribed(scratched) her name on the inside of her ring. I cannot make out her last name, but her first and middle name is "Virginia Kathryn". Another interesting piece is the square/rectangular one. It has a gold flower on top. It could be a ring or some other decorative item worn on clothing. It was recovered at about 7".

In one of the pics, you will see a chopped wheatie. That was a special find. I was able to find both pieces about 8 ft away from each other, around 5-6" deep. I accomplished this only one time last year with a Rosie. Finding the other half is like finding a needle in a haystack. With the chopped wheatie pic are a couple of 1909 (no S or VDB) pennies, along with a '15S semi-key wheat. On Tuesday, I found a wheatie spill composed of 8 wheats, the earliest a 1909; the latest, a 1935, including the '15S. They were found on the same hillside where I found the Washington, under a fallen oak tree in an 8" x 8" area.

Lastly, is a cool keychain FOB item I found on the same hillside. It's a medal honoring all members of the 1st infantry Division of the Army, which is the oldest since it's inception in 1917. The strange looking key with no loop hole was found next to the medal.

I'm taking a few days off of detecting, and helping my girlfriend's family at a very large Asian New Year fair/festival for the next 3 days. Based on how I feel on Sun., I will be back out on Mon. or Tues. Good luck to all!

Dan

Thanks Dan.
It's been acting up over the last few weeks. It was getting what sounded like a crackling overload sound especially on rusty iron and foil type hits. Last Saturday it stopped working all together. I tried everyting I knew, but it was no help. My guess is I have some dirt inside. Thank God for Tesoro's lifetime warranty. ;) I better buy another machine so I have a backup. I've been using my time off to canvas some old houses with my flyers to try to get permission for some new spots to hunt. Hopefully one or two will pop up.

lol dude what is with all the sliced up coins you find? Very awesome finds....50 silver ALREADY? sheesh....sounds like another GREAT year coming up for you, congrats!! HH

Thanks, Anthony. I'm always trying to do my best, just like you!!

Thanks, Nate!! Yes, all the parks I hunt in have lots of chopped coins, old and new. With the great weather we have here in S. CA all year round, park turf is constantly growing, which means the park maintenance is always cutting the grass. Most of the parks are mowed once a week here, increasing the chances for surface coins to get chopped up.

Yeah, I am 23 today, but I act like a 5-year-old when out in the field relic hunting. :D

It's gonna be another banner year Dan....I can see it already.Just keep the camera rolling and I'm sure I'll enjoy the ride....Beautiful stuff!!

Dan its always a pleasure to watch you hunt even if im not hitting the Silver myself, more Silver movie's to come bud thats for sure.

Congratulations on all of the silver. The piece with the flower on top looks like the pice on a belt that you push the end of the belt thru. I use to have on like it a long time ago.

WTG Captn_SE.You are the man.

Wow Dan, love those pictures and thanks for sharing the information. You are on a roll and I wish you all the good luck that you deserve. ;D

Outstanding, outstanding, and really outstanding!

You found more silver in a month than most of us will find all year. WTG

Hope you have several more months of the same.
