Hit the 1764 1 Real site with a friend on Sunday(first pic). Highlights were a plain two piece and plain spectacle buckles. Tonight I searched a new area that looked good from the road. Sure enough another colonial site:icon_thumleft: Two more small buckles and a sweet little engraved silver cuff button of a type Ive never seen before for a colonial site. Found the two pieces about a foot apart.

Isaac was a very popular name in the 18th century, as was James and John.
Sure, flip a coin, but it's not definitely an I. In my experienced opinion. I vote on J but don't exclude an I.

Sorry, mis-understood that those were the same cuff-link, thought they were 2 different. I now have some similar to share, so not as unusual as I thought! (top right being the closest match)

Thanks. Its a welcomed addition to my collection

I think what I said may have come across a little wrong. What I was trying to say was, that at first when I saw the broken example with the pillar I was thinking about a collar style stud which I've never seen on 18th C examples. When I realised the 2 items were once together, I remembered what it was.
However, if you look at the examples I have, I only have 1 similar in my collection & unlike yours it's not got any initials on it which makes yours pretty rare I would think!

That's a nice kind of silver find in my opinion! :occasion14:

Agreed. Early silver buttons, especially monogrammed, do not come up much. Ive only found a few in six years
