Silver found since sunday and a counterfeit 1964D Roosevelt ?

Hello SE Michigan here.

Been having a good week so far, a little silver everyday since sunday. Found a

nice sterling ring, though I think the pearls are fake. And today I scored

the 54' and 60' rosie's, and what looks like it must be a counterfeit.

Don't know if you can tell from the photo but it is a 64' Roosevelt and

on the reverse it has a D mint mark. But it's flaking, and looks wrong.

congrats on all that silver, crazy about that dime, never heard of that. seems like a lot of trouble counterfeiting a dime. thats a strange on, good hunting though as usual, :thumbsup:

OMG I used to have a "steady" ring like that one! congrats on the silver. I think that dime is just beat up.

Yes, Why make a fake dime? That's what I was wondering.
I once found a 46' rosie in the same hole as a rusty metal object and that affected it's look.

But this was in the hole by itself, unless there was something nulling that I missed.

It is a strange one, the stuff flaking off almost seems like silver paint, kinda thick and

gunky.

Sorry Rookie, I don't have a scale, my parole officer won't allow it.

Nice silver B! My 2 cents on the dime is that it was probably plated, and now the plating is flaking off. I have found chrome-plated and gold-plated dimes before, even annodized dimes, in roll-hunting.
Good luck with your totals. Still another month left in this year! ffd
