I've been detecting a vacant lot that once had a house and stable/garage. The house was there at least as early as 1910 (according to a Sanborn map) and probably well before that. I have found a number of wheaties (oldest 1910) but finally found silver (my very first ever).
The 1917S Merc was in the outhouse! Actually, it may not have been a real outhouse because it was L-shaped and had a concrete foundation and floor. But it did have the remnants of a water pipe and drain in one corner. The foundation is still there and the dime was on the concrete under 3 or 4 inches of dirt.
