Silver Jackpot!!!

ok, I have been feeling a bit down, thinking about my upcoming surgery and the fact that I have to spend the first 2 weeks of a 2 month rehabiliation on my back. Blech!!! But I got to work and one of my co-workers told me about some weird quarters that a customer gave her, because they didn't go through the coinstar. she said there was 30 dollars worth. Well I took a peek and about fainted. Her whole quarter holder and the extra holder was chaulk full of silver quarters. My adrenaline went through the roof and my hands were shaking. I had the silver fever. I almost got wrote up in my zeal to get those quarters into my hand. well after everything was said and done I ended up with, get this. $23.70 face value silver. I found 2 silver dimes while I waited to get the quarters and added that to the pot. she asked me if they were worth anything after I bought them and I asked her for a calculator. Doing the quick face value calculations she was the one about to faint when she realized that for 24 bucks I had just gotten over 500 dollars worth. (I know that's not the exact amount but it floored her). she said she wanted to start looking in her tills for silver. I told her go for it.(PS - I gave her a 20 dollar finders fee. I didn't have to but I know she needs the money really back and used it as an excuse.) I left a note for my office manager because according to my co-worker, the guy who brought the coins said that they were from his grandfather's, who had just died, basement and there was more than that availible. After sunday I will be on a mini vacation before having my surgery so I let my manager know if she sees any more silver quarters to get them. she likes silver to and I am generous enough to pass info like that to her, if I am not going to be there for the next 2 months. Now my once crummy day is totally silver!! I am tired but absolutely giddy. ::grins and rubs hands together:: mwahahaha!!

You didn't have to give her $20? She just got you over $500 in silver. It was the least you could do... She could have decided to keep them and you would have gotten squat!

She's not flighty but she probably won't be into it like I am. And it's not like I can hop-scotch from till to till looking for silver. I have gotten into BIG trouble trying to do that. She was happy with the 20 dollar tip that I gave her and I know I have someone who will keep an eye out for the same from now on. Seriously I don't think she would take the time to take the silver to a coinshop to sell it or collect it for future plans. But thanks for the thought.
