silver ore nugget find today

In in my parents back yard in Silverton Oregon i found this with my metal detector about 15 inches down. weighs 49.2 grams. cleaned it up and took it to the local rock shop in town said it might be silver ore nugget.

Native silver is not found in that form. If it is indeed solid silver, as your rock shop friends say, then existing refined silver was melted or ore was smelted and refined, to produce that "nugget." Then the "nugget" somehow found itself 15 inches down in your parents' back yard. A real mystery. Great find.

Interesting find , I wonder why you have such a strong color contrast - silver/ gold ? If it is a natural silver nugget , what is all that gold color in your pic ??

it looks like a rock with silver , and yellow in in for sure.

You might be able to take it to a jeweler or pawn shop to see if they could do a noninvasive test on it.

from what i gather, silver nuggets are extremely rare. there is a good chance of associated gold in it. good chance theres more money in gold than silver, but in any case that is a stellar find. its worth way more than its melt weight.

It could a silver nugget MELT, where someone took silver, probably with some gold in it and melted it to free it from the host rock. Most native silver is black in color due to sulfur oxidation. Take it to a jeweler.

took it to a rock guy who said it looked like melted silver, with a bit of gold possibly.

put a ice cube on it and it started to bubble from the inside right away.Melting as soon as i put the cube on it.
