Havent found any silver change in my pocket in years, but I always check. Ive got a good feeling about this one even though its from the year 2000. Looks like someone busted open a proof set or somthing ??

Look at the rim of the coin. If there is a brown stripe on the rim it's just clad. But if there is no stripe and its just white, it's silver. It does have an "S" mintmark so it's quite a possibility!

Yup no copper on the rim. It sounds a lot different when dropped on the counter top thats what caught my attention when I emptied the change out of my pockets tonight. The year 2000 threw me off though. Definitely a "s" mint mark. Were these some kind of special series minted in silver or something.

It's probably silver, modern mint sets are made in clad an .900 silver too. I've gotten a silver dime that way recently

Wow thats important to know !! Wonder how many I let slip buy. I guess there is more to it than just checking dates. Oh no !!! Now I have to recheck all my saved up change. Thanks for the info. This one looks like a winner.

Nice score, bart!! This is the time of year to look over the pocket change and bills received from cashier transactions. More rare coins and currency make their way into circulation during the holiday season.........check everything extra careful until February!!

Thanks for the information "kcm" :icon_thumright:

Cool find. My only good coin star find was a proof dime from '97.

Good job spotting that one . I know theres lots of coins with errors and silver like yours but how often do we look closely at our coins good job!!!!!!

I always have my edition of The Official Red Book by R.S. Yeoman
It is publushed annually and is A GUIDE BOOK OF UNITED STATES COINS.

Thanks and congrats, I didn't know this was possible.

Great info! I would have seen the 2000 date and not given it a second thought.
