I made some good finds at this old farmyard years ago, in fact my first ever silver coin, a 1929 SLQ, came from the front yard in 2010. I noticed the grass was flat-ish in the back yard so gave it a shot again today.

The very first target was the ring. I saw gold! I saw 14K! Then I saw 1/30 gold shell. Dang it! Oh well, a ring is a ring I guess. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491779672.982997.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491779716.744488.jpg

Then I found this chunk of silver which is very thin. Has a mark on it, gotta try to figure out what it is. Maybe part of a pipe? Anybody know?ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491779811.070540.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491779864.585328.jpg

Then out popped a really nice Edward dime. I don't find many Edwards so it was a a welcome find.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491780066.715173.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491780098.704271.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491780188.571887.jpg

When I got home I found a tick on my leg. There is still snow in places, and ticks at the same time?! That's just not right.

Great hunt man! That's a pretty fancy looking piece of silver too. I pulled a couple ticks off too and temps have been close to freezing at night still. I didn't think they'd be active with it still this cold.

Great hunt! Love those old Canadian dimes!

Nice quarter J. I'm hoping for a Canada quarter like the one you found one day...

Hard to judge the size from the pic, but maybe a silver cane handle. Have you tried Googling the makers mark?

I did google the mark, but nothing relevant comes up. I like the cane handle idea!

Gold or not, those are some great finds! Love the old building in the backdrop.

Excellent finds and ticks can be active year round I lived in ohio and had picked up a couple rabbit hunting with my brother before so be careful.
