Silver smiles! (junk added 8/11/06)

Hello to all!

I had a short bit of time to detect on my way home from driving my boy to his best friend's house from where we used to live, an hour plus away. So I popped in their old elementary school and hit the woodchips.

Someone had detected there in the past few weeks. There was craters here and there and most disappointing, there was trash in the bottom of their dug holes. They didn't pick up their trash digs. Well, I didn't have time to go somewhere else so I gave it a shot anyway.

1 and 1/2 hours and I found a few goodies, he missed a lot...
Only 23 coins and $2.70 total, mostly quarters and best of all, I didn't get skunked on keepers. I found two sterling earrings by the girly twirley bars. One has a Mother Of Pearl stone and the other an Agate stone.

Plus I picked up a ton of trash and nails from the play area, a pouchful. I also found three our four trinkets, junk jewelry .

Another nice time out doing what I love and filling my pouch a bit too.

Oh ya, at the very end of my hunt, this popped out!
I found it in the last two feet I had to check and I had about given up, my mind already heading for the car. Bonus!!!! and I was all smiles!

It's Sterling and has a nice pink stone and one white stone on each side of it. They are brilliant cut and are very pretty. Cool!!

Very nice for 1.5 hours, and hunting those woodchips is SO EASY on the digging arm . I keep seeing all these posts by folks hunting playgrounds and I see all this jewelry coming out - I must have cheap parents around here cause I've hunted 4-5 good sized playgrounds very thoroughly and all I seem to find is oodles of clad and a few older coins.

Now don't get me wrong, any finds are good finds, but with the rings you all are finding, I keep getting my hopes up that "this" playground will be a bonanza for me but no such luck. Guess that just means I have to keep looking for playgrounds - maybe I should head to some more wealthy towns

Ok Bob, next time you got it!
I am in the habit of dumping all my trash right into the school's
garbage bin and that's what I did today too.
I use a Home Depot nail pouch and the trash side was full.
There were a lot of braze blobs too, they were gold color.
I think they installed new play equipment two years ago.

Hi again Bob

I had a customer meeting today out near the area I detected yesterday so I stopped back by the school on my way back to the office and was able to retrieve my trash...just for you...lol.

I had put it in a McDonalds cup from my car before I disposed of it in the trash bin so it was easy for me to snag it back intact.

I will take a photo of it all when I get home this evening and post it in the thread.
