Silver thimble and when a trime is not a trime

Got the two thimbles but one is silver with the cool what looks like burn marks on it. Wonder what it was used for? Also dug a tombac that really had me going until I flipped it over

No. This is only my second silver thimble. Pretty sure they are both silver. Both of them looked to be marked only with a size number. They were both found on colonial sites but pretty sure theyre 19th century
