No complaints about yesterday's hunt. I always love finding jewelry, but honestly a silver quarter is harder to come by.

The Tip: Not that I am the best detectorist around, but check out my signature below to see some of the great stuff I've found. My hunting is 99% at the lake shores. Here in North Texas the lakes have been very low for a couple of years because of the drought. I have learned that some of my best finds, especially the gold, can be found in the small berms that mark past water levels. I used to skip the berms because I found nothing but beer cans and pull tabs, but I started going real slow and digging everything, and can now say that I have found some great stuff in those berms. I hope this helps you find more treasure.

Of course we are expecting "flooding" rains over the next couple of days, so I think a lot of my best hunting areas may be cut off from access. Oh well... we need the rain bad.

Nice finds! The quarter is great! Sixty five is as close as I get to silver!
Hope you can find more before the rains flood it in again.

Nice! Thanks for sharing...

Nice silver - yeah, I agree with vpnavy too - most of mine seem to be '65... so close!

yep, so many 65 quarters, so close and yet so far away. sounds like you got it figured out, good luck on the rain, we have been flooded over and over here, almost 8 inches last week.

Whoa, thank you SO MUCH for the tip about the lakes here in North Texas. Really, I do appreciate it, as I've been wanting to give that a try soon as well. I know we're supposed to have monster rains and we need it but the sky doesn't seem to want to cooperate! There's actually some interesting spillway type areas in my 'backyard' so to speak that I'm waiting to dry up before I go into them and start swinging around to see what washed down there, but if it keeps raining frequently I'm fine with waiting even more.

Great finds my friend. It's always nice to find silver thats been long lost for years.Silver coins are beautiful compared to the coins of today. I found a new penny that was scraped by something, it looked liked they just sprayed the penny with copper coating.
I agree with you on the receding waters on lakes. I have an excalibur 2 and plan on doing some fresh water lake detecting but I am getting ready to take scuba diving lessons and will be hunting the waters that way. I know a guy who does it all the time and he finds mega money and lots of gold and silver jewerly.
Good luck to you. Dave P
